JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY
Summary of role of team:
- A Licensed RN 1 is responsible for providing basic medical attention to clients and assessing their wellbeing as a part of a larger medical team.
- The RN 1 is responsible for the assessment and management of withdrawal signs/symptoms of clients presenting to the unit.
SUMMARY OF POSITION:
- The RN 1 will have strong communication skills, good time management and organization skill.
- Has excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Will provide direct care to clients in the Residential/Detox setting.
- Will possess a working knowledge of basic nursing techniques.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
- This position is based within Centerpointe Detox and Residential services 24/7.
- Typically operated in a 24/7 Residential Inpatient Facility.
- This position requires working different shifts as needed.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Quality Care.
- RN 1 will have comprehensive assessment skills.
- Upon admissions will review admissions assessment with accuracy and will be able to integrate findings into a cohesive, comprehensive nursing assessment.
- Nurse will assess clients being admitted into program to determine which detox standing orders protocol to place client on by assessing vital signs, COWS/CIWA Scores, BAC Machine, TB Testing, Oxygen Saturations, Urine Drug Screens and BAC Machine, and pregnancy screens
- Works with multi-disciplinary team to meet client needs and maintain clinical standards of the program.
- RN 1 will provide direct and indirect client care.
- Will assess client's withdrawal signs and symptoms per COWS and CIWA daily.
- Nurse will monitor efficacy of medications administered per Standing Orders.
2. Maintains accurate records of nursing interventions.
- Completes all chart documentation within required time frames.
- Adheres to licensure, agency, state and CARF standards.
- Review with client ASAM placement criteria and obtain signatures daily.
- Perform TB testing on each client upon admissions and document results 48-72 hours later.
- Will monitor and assess the efficacy of medications administered per standing orders.
- RN 1 will perform charting 3 X per 8 hour shift and 4 X per 12 hour shift and PRN.
- Nurse will complete nursing assessment within 2 hours.
- Administer prescribed, routine and PRN medications as scheduled no more than 1 hour before or 1 hour after of prescribed time.
- Will complete client assessments every Q shift X 3 days and document any changes in client's condition.
- Ensures that physicians' orders are evaluated within 2 hours noted.
- Upon clients admission, will note date, protocol and discharge date/time TB test and place on board in medication room.
- Nurse will complete admission packet to include risk assessment TB Symptom Screening Tool, property sheet noting medications, Consent for Medications, Treatment Planning and ASAM.
3. Team Atmosphere.
- Functions as a member of a multi-disciplinary management team.
- Attends shift reports each shift with IC/OG nursing staff without tardiness.
- Participates in call rotation as scheduled and returns calls within 15 min.
- Provides feedback regarding client's needs/assessments with MD/supervisor therapist and nursing staff.
- RN 1 will attend at least 95% of scheduled nursing staff meetings.
- Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.
- Maintains a positive and professional working relationship with all staff members and supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned by upper management and Nursing Manager.
- Works independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees and organizations.
- Works effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.
COMPENSATION:
- Starting salary for this position is approximately $30.87 /hr based on relevant experience and education.
Schedule:
- This is a full-time position operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- This Regular full-time position requires 40 hour per week with understanding that the schedule is subject to change to meet the needs of the program.
- Must be flexible with work scheduling and participates in On-Call rotation as scheduled.
Travel:
- This position does not require any Day trips or overnight.
- If a client needs to be transported, staff must have an F-endorsement licensure.
Equipment/Technical Competency:
- Must be efficient in computer skills.
- Use of Microsoft Office is required and the ability to use the fax machine and phone system.
- Able to read Urine Drug Screens with accuracy, use of BAC machine, pulse oximeter machine.
- Monitor CT'S Blood Glucometer, and ability to utilize the Aneroid Sphygmomanometer and stethoscope, must be able to monitor vital signs and record in the electronic medical files.
Equipment/Technology:
- Monitor CT's BGL using Glucometer, ability to utilize the Aneroid Sphygmomanometer and stethoscope.
- RN 1 must know how use the BAC machine and be able to read the UDS with accuracy.
- Must be able to use the blood pressure machine and monitor vital signs.
- Will need to record in the electronic medical files.
- This position does require basic computer skills for timekeeping and use of electronic medical records entry.
QUALIFICATIONS - Centerpointe RN
Experience / Knowledge:
- Possess a working knowledge of basic nursing techniques.
- Demonstrates ethical and appropriate behavior for a clinical environment to include, but not limited to maintenance of confidentiality of patient information.
- The ability to retrieve, communicate and present data and information both verbally and in writing required.
- The ability to understand instructions. Possess medical terminology, charting and knowledge of the nursing process.
Education / License:
- Graduate of an accredited RN Program and possess a current/valid Tennessee nursing license with course work or experience in behavioral health.
- RN 1 will complete all Relias Training Modules when required.
Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:
- Nurse must complete HWC and CPR amongst continuing education modules as assigned.
- Able to lift up to 50 Ibs.
- The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout halls, client's rooms and surrounding facility in response to emergencies.
- A significant amount of writing and keyboarding is required.
