If so, we are currently seeking a qualified and motivated professional for the following position: HIV Prevention Wrap Around/Peer Support Specialist.
The HIV Prevention Wrap Around/Peer Support Specialist provides wraparound services to HIV and to extremely high-risk HIV- clients. The HIV Prevention Wrap Around/Peer Support Specialist will recruit, organize, facilitate, and record HIV tests to high-risk target populations as defined in the grant contract. HIV WA/PRS will provide services in the form of education, outreach, testing, health communication/public information and individual level risk reduction counseling to diverse groups of high-risk target populations as defined in the grant contract. HIV WA/PRS will communicate effectively with HIV Program Coordinator, HIV Prevention and Outreach staff, Helen Ross McNabb Center staff and community organizations with whom the program collaborates or provides services.
This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
Education/Knowledge: A Bachelor's degree in Public health, social science, education or a health-related field is preferred. LADAC or other relevant license or license-eligible with willingness to obtain. Must be able to be trained to perform HIV/HCV testing; knowledge of social media/computer electronics and /or HIV/AIDS preferred.
Experience: One year experience in case management working with ages 13-24 years old. Strong interpersonal skills and an understanding of HIV, high risk populations, ability to relate in a variety of settings, willingness to "meet the client where he/she is", public speaking, communicate with diverse groups while working well with a diverse group of team members.
Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation. Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
Salary range for this position starts at approximately $14.56 per hour depending on relevant experience and education.
