  JOB SUMMARY

Schedule:  The holder of this position will be expected to work shifts that meet the needs of the program operation, which may include morning and evening hours. Regular attendance is an essential job function. Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift. 

COMPENSATION:

  • Starting salary for this position is approximately $50,367/yr based on relevant experience and education.

Education/Knowledge: Must have at least a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, or a behavioral science field with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual and developmental disabilities. Extensive knowledge of addiction and general knowledge of mental health and co-occurring disorders is essential. Knowledge of 12 step programs, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and aftercare planning is required.  Must be licensed or license eligible. Must obtain F endorsement and maintain certified driver status.

Experience: Experience preferred in the social work field or a behavioral health setting with extensive experience with special populations including individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness, Co-Occurring Disorders, and Dual Diagnosis Disorders preferred. Knowledge of community services for linkage and referral.

Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Must be capable of assisting in utilizing non-violent methods of crisis intervention including therapeutic holding.  Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.  The necessary skills for this position include the ability to demonstrate appropriate boundaries, ability to be an empathic listener, and flexibility, willingness, and adaptability to work with diverse populations.  Must also have the ability to communicate effectively and possess good time management and organizational skills. Required to be certified in, and effectively implement, verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements; including but not limited to, grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking. Valid driver's license- ?F? endorsement. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. CPR and First Aid certification required. Physical de-escalation techniques will only be implemented at McNabb Center facilities, and not in community settings. Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.

Equipment/Technical Competency: Ability to use a computer and basic office software is required, including but not limited to Office Word, Excel, Outlook and be able to utilize EMR for clinical documentation.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT

This position is housed at the Hamblen County Campus and requires both office-based clinical and administrative work and community-based clinical interactions. The Hamblen County IOP Master's Level Clinician will be responsible for engaging clients, peers, and community members in a professional and therapeutic manner.

JOB SUMMARY

1. Works in a multi-disciplinary Team approach to meet clinical needs of consumers presenting in IOP.

a. Attends tx team when schedule allows and participates through clinical recommendation/interventions.

b. Attends scheduled administrative team meetings without tardiness and participates.

c. Responds to all flags, emails, and voicemails within 1-2 business days.  

d. Consults with co-workers and supervisors to ensure clients receive the most appropriate care available.

e. Facilities IOP group sessions, with frequency and curriculum outlined by program guidelines.

f. Provides evidence-based therapeutic interventions in individual, group, and/or family formats as appropriate.

g. Completes screenings, assessments, and intakes daily.

h. Introduce clients to various recovery modalities, including but not limited to the 12-step model.  

  i.  Refers client for and/or coordinates care with medication assistant treatment provides when appropriate.

j. Develops and updates client treatment plans. Uses the plan as a living document to coordinate the delivery of services throughout the clients' participation in the program. Ensures client achieves goals and objectives or modifies plan as appropriate.

k. Will lead group on a daily basis.

l. Will provide individual therapy on an as needed basis.

m. Facilities random drug screens with clients.

2. Completes all documentation in compliance with funding/program standards.  

a. Individual clinical documentation is completed within 2 business days (TNWITS, Centricity, etc) to ensure compliance.

b. All documentation will show evidence of presenting problems and symptoms support of DSM-5 diagnosis given.

c. Notes will be detailed in nature, contain client quotes, and contain action oriented statements.

d. Works closely with community partners and other Center programming to coordinate client care.  

e. Attends appropriate community events; taskforce meetings; training events, etc.

f. Maintains clinical and administrative compliance within all Center's P&P, federal confidentiality (including 42CFR part 2) and CARF guidelines.

g. Review, update, and/or revise treatment plan as appropriate to client's progress (weekly).

h. Effectively manages admissions and discharges; makes referrals for clients as needed. 

3.  Demonstrates and maintains a positive work climate and the overall team effort of the department.

a. Demonstrates a consideration and concern for fellow workers and their jobs, and promotes harmonious relationships and attitudes.

b. Accepts additional assignments and/or changes in assignments and/or work with flexibility.  

c. Meets with supervisor to address identified concerns at a minimum of once a month.

d. Gives and receives appropriate feedback.

e. Communicates directly and approaches conflict with a problem-solving approach.

  f.  Is expected to have regular and predictable attendance, and the ability to work cooperatively with others.

h. Will be cross-trained to be able to provide coverage/assistance to all areas. Including, but not limited to, all program documentation requirements, group counseling, resource networking, and discharge planning.

  1. Primary General Responsibility

a.  Hamblen County IOP Master's Level Clinician will serve as a clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team and provide direct care daily. Therapists will complete intakes/assessments, face to face individual therapy, and group counseling.

b.   Hamblen County IOP Master's level clinician will be crossed trained in all areas of the programs and feel comfortable performing all tasks related to IOP. Therapist will be an active participate in daily treatment team to address any client problems, concerns, and discharge planning.

c.  Hamblen County IOP Master's Level Therapist will provide individual therapy and group counseling daily. 

2.  Second general responsibility

a.  Hamblen County IOP Master's Level Therapist will complete all documentation in compliance with funding/program standards daily.

b.  Hamblen County IOP Master's Level Therapist will demonstrate and maintain a positive work climate and professionalism as evidenced by providing an encouraging and supportive environment and accept all additional assignments with flexibility. All conflicts will be discussed in a professional and private manner with supervisor.
