The CSU Resident Counselor serves as a clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing education, rehabilitation, and support for the client population. Introduce and teach key recovery concepts through Illness Management and Recovery Groups to include Team Solutions and WRAP. Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
Education/Knowledge: A bachelor's degree in a health related field of counseling, psychology, social work, or a HS Diploma with three years experience working with individuals with mental illness, special populations with co-occurring and dual diagnoses preferred.
Must have coursework and/or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention.
Experience: Experience in working with special populations including individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, Co-occurring Disorders, and Dual Diagnosis is preferred. Computer experience is helpful. Experience working in a crisis setting is preferred. Regular attendance is an essential job function.
Physical: Possible exposure to biological hazards. Valid driver's license with F endorsement. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
Salary range for this position starts at approximately $11.04 per hour depending on relevant experience and education.
