Do you see yourself as a part of this life-changing work? If so, we are currently seeking a qualified and motivated professional for the following position: Intensive Long Term Support (ILS) Residential Counselor

The Ideal ILS Residential Counselor is responsible for implementing the daily routine of the program, which includes:  assisting clients in an Intensive Long-Term Support (ILS) level of care through direct monitoring of clients, co-facilitation of educational and activity groups, assistance with activities of daily living, provision of social support, and completion of general tasks related to the maintenance of the environment. Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift to monitor client safety.  This positon requires frequent community involvement and group community outings.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $12.95 /hr based on relevant experience and education. A shift differential of 5% is applied for second shift.  A shift differential of 10% is applied for 3rd shift.

Schedule: Must be able to work flexible hours based on the needs of the program. Must give six hours' notice if not able to work their scheduled shift (unless a documented emergency arises).

Travel: This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. An F Endorsement is required as staff members may be required to provide transportation in their personal vehicle. Staff members are reimbursed for use of their vehicle for this purpose.

Equipment/Technology: Computer skills and ability to utilize company program software to properly document. Telephone and faxing skills. 

QUALIFICATIONS - ILS Residential Counselor

Education:

  • Must have graduated from high school with a diploma or have a GED.  
  • Bachelor's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, or a behavioral science field with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual disabilities preferred.
  • Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation, occupational therapy, criminal justice, or education must have twelve college-level semester hours of coursework in behavioral health.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • One year experience in the social work field or a behavioral health setting preferred. 

Physical:

  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors.
  • Hearing of normal and soft tones.
  • Close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, running, and walking.
  • Physical de-escalation techniques will only be implemented at McNabb Center facilities and not in community settings.
  • Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation. 
  • Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
