Join the McNabb Center Team as a Nurse at the Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center (BHUCC) today!

The BHUCC Nurse serves as a clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing treatment, rehabilitation, and support for client population. The BHUCC Nurse must be adept at multi-tasking. 

  • Provides direct medical care to clients in a psychiatric/detox setting including clients in varying levels of crisis, frequently working with SPMI and clients with co-occurring issues. 
  • Collaborates with Mobile Crisis and Walk in Center assisting with clients being referred to higher level of care and seeking medical clearance by completing S-BARs.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $20.43/hr (LPN)or $28.00 /hr (RN) based on relevant experience and education.


  • 7pm-7am 
  • Schedule requires rotating weekends and scheduled holidays. 
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function. 
  • Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift. 
  • Must be punctual and maintain a good attendance record.



  • RN or LPN with current Tennessee license and experience in psychiatric and alcohol and drug treatment setting preferred. 
  • CPR certification or willingness to become certified is required.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Should have sound knowledge of psychiatric and detox medications, diagnoses, treatment modalities and interventions. 
  • Experience in working with special populations including individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness and Co-Occurring Disorders preferred. 
  • Experience working in a crisis setting preferred. 
  • Computer experience is required. 
  • Be familiar with Microsoft Office and EMR.


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
