The ideal PRN Residential Counselor is responsible for implementing the daily routine of the program which includes: 

  • assisting clients in Residential and Detoxification levels of care by direct monitoring of clients
  • facilitation of educational and activity groups
  • co-facilitation of process groups
  • observation of client breaks
  • assisting with admissions and assessments when needed
  • writing daily progress notes
  • other duties as assigned by the Service Coordinator

Scheduling: 

  • This position is an as needed position.  
  • Flexibility is required.  
  • Evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Travel

  • An F endorsement is required in order to transport clients as necessary.

Equipment/Technology

  • Basic computer skills are required for time keeping, scheduling, email, and documentation in the electronic medical record.

QUALIFICATIONS - PRN Residential Counselor

Education: 

  • Must have graduated from high school with a diploma or have a GED.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Experience in alcohol or drug facility or health related field preferred but not required.

Physical:

  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal to soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
