Team as a Residential Counselor for the Intensive Long Term Support (ILS)
Program today!
The Residential
Counselor is responsible
for implementing the daily routine of the program, which includes:
- assisting clients in an Intensive Long-Term Support
(ILS) level of care through direct monitoring of clients
- co-facilitation of educational and activity groups
- assistance with activities of daily living
- provision of social support
- completion of general tasks related to the maintenance
of the environment
- mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift to
monitor client safety
- requires frequent community involvement and group
community outings.
COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is
approximately $13.80 /hr for HS diploma and $16.70 /hr for bachelor's level
based on relevant experience and education.
Schedule:
- Must be able to work flexible hours based on the
needs of the program.
- Must give six hours' notice if not able to work their
scheduled shift (unless a documented emergency arises).
Travel:
- This position requires utilizing a personal
dependable vehicle to conduct Center business.
- Maintaining a dependable vehicle
and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
- An F Endorsement is
required as staff members may be required to provide transportation in their
personal vehicle.
- Staff members are reimbursed for use of their vehicle for
this purpose.
QUALIFICATIONS - ILS
Residential Counselor
Education:
- Must have graduated from high school with a diploma or
have a GED.
- Bachelor's degree in a health-related field of
counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, or a behavioral science
field with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity,
human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and
drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual
disabilities preferred.
- Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in rehabilitation,
occupational therapy, criminal justice, or education must have twelve
college-level semester hours of coursework in behavioral health.
Experience / Knowledge:
- One year experience in the social work field or a
behavioral health setting preferred.
- This position does require computer skills for
timekeeping, scheduling and use of electronic medical records.
Physical:
- Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal to soft tones and close eye work.
- Valid driver's license.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping,
and reaching.
- CPR and First Aid certification required.
- Required to be certified in verbal de-escalation
techniques
- Clinical staff members must possess reliable
transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's
license, and transport clients.
