SUMMARY

The Licensed Practical Nurse at BHUCC (Part Time) will provide nursing contact for adults.  Schedule requires 12 hour shifts.  He/she will be responsible for providing health promotion, prevention and wellness management to patients.  The LPN is responsible for the assessment and management of psychotic symptoms and withdrawal symptoms of clients. These include initial medical assessments / intake, providing appropriate nursing care, initiating and adhering to appropriate medical protocol(s).  Demonstrates ethical and appropriate behavior for a clinical environment to include, but not limited to: dignity, patient's rights and privacy, and the maintenance of confidentiality of patient information. The ability to retrieve, communicate, and present data and information both verbally and in electronic medical record. Assist and evaluate the need for emergency transfer to hospital in cases of serious injury, illness.  LPN collaborates with Mobile Crisis assisting with BHUCC client's being referred to higher level of care. Schedule requires rotating weekends. Regular attendance and punctuality is an essential job function.

This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.

REQUIREMENTS

Education/Knowledge: A licensed LPN with a current Tennessee license. Experience in psychiatric and substance abuse preferred. CPR certified or willing to become certified.

Experience: Experience in working with special populations including individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness, Co-Occurring Disorders, and Dual Diagnosis Disorders preferred. Ability to use computer and electronic medical record.

Physical: Schedule requires 12 hour shifts. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout halls, clients' rooms and surrounding facility in response to emergencies.  A significant amount of writing is required. Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 250 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.

COMPENSATION:

Salary range for this position starts at approximately $16.98 per hour depending on relevant experience and education.
