The Community Crisis Liaison serves as a clinical member of crisis programs, which include the Mobile Crisis Unit (MCU), the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), and Medically Monitored Crisis Detox (MMCD). Flexibility required at high volume service times to provide transportation to clients assessed by MCU, CSU, or MMCD. Will provide side by side assistance as needed for clients attending appointments. Act as a liaison between client and community partners to ensure that client gains access to identified resources. Provides crisis intervention to help clients de-escalate with the intention to divert client to least restrictive level of care. Embraces the key values of case management: empowerment, normalization, rehabilitation, and continuity of care. Regular attendance is an essential job function.
This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
Education/Knowledge: Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in a behavioral health field of counseling, psychology, social work, sociology, or other behavioral science field with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide and mental retardation.
Experience/Skills: One year practical experience working with individuals with a mental illness required. Must have a strong commitment to the right and ability of each person with a mental illness to live and work in the community and to have access to competent and appropriate support services. Must have demonstrated ability to abide by professional/ethical code of conduct and to establish supportive and respectful relationships with clients.
Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation. Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
Physical: Possible exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
Salary range for this position starts at approximately $13.97 per hour depending on relevant experience and education.
