The Child Abuse Prevention Specialist

Duties:

  1. Administrative.
  • Complete all documentation in compliance with funding source standards.
  • Document client attendance in paper charts and AAPI database within 48 hours of encounter.
  • Assist the Team Leader in completing all productivity, QA/QI and quarterly reports as needed.
  • Complete all admission paperwork the day of admission.

2.Service Delivery.

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team approach to meet clinical needs of consumers.
  • Provide families with necessary linkage and referrals to help meet unmet needs or concerns beyond the scope of the program.
  • Evidence and feedback from clients demonstrate Child Abuse Prevention Specialist knowledge of community resources and adequate attempts to facilitate linkage.
  • Responds to all flags, emails, and voicemails within 2 business days.
  • Monitoring of service effectiveness and compliance.
  • Evidence that each client was compliant with group attendance, and non-compliance documented.
  • Evidence that all families are seen at group once a week by Child Abuse Prevention Specialist and that both successful and unsuccessful attendance is documented.
  • Ensure that groups are facilitated with fidelity to the Nurturing Parenting and Stewards of Children curriculums.
  • Schedules and facilitate community classes and events.
  • Assists in finding a location and distributing flyers for Nurturing Parenting classes and Stewards of Children Trainings.
  • Participates in outreach events and meetings.

3. Productivity.

    • Completion of expected productivity as outlined in the grant contract, QA/QI and quarterly report process measures.
    • Evidence that all efforts were made to make minimum encounters each month.
    • Contact all new referrals within 48 hours.

    4. Professionalism/Professional Development.

      • Exhibits accountability for assigned responsibilities.
      • Responds to all e-mails and voicemails within 2 business days.
      • Demonstrate time management skills by arriving on time for groups and supervision meetings.
      • Complete tasks by prescribed deadlines and in accordance with P&P.
      • Attends professional training so that decisions are in accordance with HRMC policy, CARF and grant requirements.
      • Flexibility and adaptability.
      • Accepts other responsibilities as assigned by Team Leader.
      • Communication and relationships.
      • Attends supervision regularly to communicate any problems and give/receive feedback openly.
      • Maintains professional, respectful communication with co-workers, clients, and referral sources even when conflict arises.

      JOB PURPOSE/SUMMARY

      Summary of role of team:

      • Provides Nurturing Parenting Classes and Stewards of Children Trainings in multiple counties each week.
      • Completes all documentation required for client file, including attendance records, each week.
      • Manages phone calls, texts, and voicemails with clients daily.
      • Participates in community outreach with community partners each month.
      • Inputs and records all trainings, outreach, and client data on program spreadsheet each week.

      Summary of position:

      • Schedules and facilitates evidence based Nurturing Parenting Classes and Stewards of Children Trainings.
      • As well as community outreach in efforts to prevent child abuse within the community.
      • Serves as an advocate and educator for program participants.
      • Maintains accurate and complete client files and program data.
      • Communicates with program team to coordinate services based on community need.

      TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT

      • Position primarily operates in office but may operate in the community based on client and group needs.

      JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

      1. Schedules and facilitates evidence based Nurturing Parenting Classes and Stewards of Children Trainings.

      • Provides Nurturing Parenting Classes each week in each county served. Completing all required paperwork and documentation for each client.
      • Provides Stewards of Children training in each county served each quarter.
      • Provide clients with additional community resources as needed.

      2. Provides community outreach in efforts to prevent child abuse within the community.

      • Provides community outreach to community partners regarding child abuse in all counties staff person serves each quarter.
      • Provides outreach information on both Nurturing Parenting Classes and Stewards of Children Trainings.
      • Participates in April Child Abuse Prevention Month outreach by sharing swag and information with community partners and families.

      COMPENSATION:

      • Starting salary for this position is approximately $16.90 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

      Schedule:

      • In-person daily attendance required.
      • Non-traditional schedule with some groups going until 7:30 PM.

      Travel:

      • Must be capable of driving a car and using your personal vehicle to commute to group locations in multiple counties.
      • Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License and proof of insurance.

      Equipment/Technical Competency:

      • Daily use of computer required.
      • Must be able to send emails, compose professional documents, and maintain/track data in spreadsheets.
      • Also required to use office phone and company cell phone on daily basis to answer calls, text clients, and return voicemails.

      QUALIFICATIONS - Child Abuse Prevention Specialist

      Experience / Knowledge:

      • One-year experience in a human services or related field; including experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

      Education / License:

      • High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree in human services or related field.
      • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
      • Familiarity with common psychological issues associated with the target population.

      Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:

      • Ability to prioritize and organize work in order to achieve multiple goals.
      • Ability to relate and work well with the public and other professionals.
      • Ability to present ideas/information clearly and effectively.
      • Outpatient/Community based environment.
      • Must be capable of assisting in utilizing non- violent methods of crisis intervention including therapeutic holding.
      • Must have mental ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure.
      • Must be adhere to agency guidelines regarding background checks and screenings.
