Do you see yourself as a part of this life-changing work? If so, we are currently seeking a qualified and motivated professional for the following position:  Residential Meal Prepper

The Ideal Residential Meal Prepper will be under the Supervision of the Service Coordinator and have to follow menus within budget constraints. The position will also keep the kitchen up to public and state standards. The kitchen will have to be cleaned and kept sanitary including the refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, grill and the deep fryer. The position will also maintain good relations with the food suppliers and with Second Harvest Food Bank.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $14.94 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

Scheduling:  Monday - Friday for lunch and dinner preparation.  Weekends for breakfast, lunch, and dinner preparation.  

Travel: This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.

Equipment/Technology: Kitchen Equipment competency and some computer skills for e-mail and supply ordering.

QUALIFICATIONS - Gateway Residential Counselor


  • A High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Must have knowledge of nutritional needs, food ordering within budget parameters, food preparation, menu planning and awareness of sanitary food preparation and kitchen cleanliness. 


  • Exposure to biological hazards. 
  • Hearing of normal and soft tones. 
  • Valid driver's license. 
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. 
  • Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. 
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.  
  • Staff will be required to work with gas ovens and stove, table top deep fry, industrial dish washer. 
  • This position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal de-escalation techniques.
