Child Abuse Prevention Specialist

The Child Abuse Prevention Specialist schedules and facilitates evidence based Nurturing Parenting Classes and Stewards of Children Trainings, as well as community outreach in efforts to prevent child abuse within the community. 

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $13.28 /hr (HS) or $15.47 /hr (Bachelor's) based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule:  In-person daily attendance required. Non-traditional schedule with some groups going until 7:30 PM.

Travel: Must be capable of driving a car and using your personal vehicle to commute to group locations in multiple counties. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License and proof of insurance.

Equipment/Technology: Daily use of computer required. Must be able to send emails, compose professional documents, and maintain/track data in spreadsheets.  Also required to use office phone and company cell phone on daily basis to answer calls, text clients, and return voicemails.

QUALIFICATIONS - Child Abuse Prevention Specialist


  • High School Diploma or Bachelor's degree in human services or related field.  
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred. 
  • Familiarity with common psychological issues associated with the target population

Experience / Knowledge

  • One year experience in a human services or related field; including experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide and intellectual and developmental disabilities


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
