The ideal Outreach Advocate is responsible for providing direct services to victims of domestic violence. Professionalism and the ability to work at both an individual level and as a team is required. Duties within the clinic/community change on an ongoing basis so flexibility is essential.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $15.78 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule:  

• This position is typically 8am-5pm. 
• However, evening hours may occur due to crisis situations, goal completion, or family sessions. 
• Position requires timely in person attendance on daily basis. 
• Hamblen County Outreach Advocate's weekly schedule must be flexible to meet the needs of the client, family, and community.

Travel: 

• Position does require travel. 
• You may be asked to transport clients in your personal vehicle during a crisis situation, court, or to an appointment. 
• An F endorsement is required for this position. 

QUALIFICATIONS - Outreach Advocate

Education: 

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in social services or related field with experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention. 
• Candidates with HS diploma or equivalent will be considered with commensurate experience.

Experience / Knowledge: 

• 1-2 years working with adults and/or families preferred. 
• Experience/knowledge/front line service delivery in domestic violence or other victim services is preferred. 
• Experience in case management and trauma-informed care is preferred. 
• Experience in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and counseling is highly preferred. 
• Supervisor experience is preferred.
• Survivors of violence and those exposed to domestic violence are encouraged to apply. 
• Bilingual preferred.

Physical:

• Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
• Hearing of normal to soft tones and close eye work.
• Valid driver's license.
• Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
• CPR and First Aid certification required.
• Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
• Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
• Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
