The Food Service Specialist will be under the Supervision of the Service Coordinator. Monday- Friday the Food Service Specialist will prepare lunch and dinner and will cook breakfast on the weekends and addition to the other meals the Food Service Specialist will have to follow menus within budget constraints. The Food Service Specialist will also keep the Kitchen up to public and state standards. The kitchen will have to be cleaned and kept sanitary including the refrigerators, freezers, stoves, ovens, grill and the deep fryer. The Food Service Specialist will also maintain good relations with the food suppliers and with Second Harvest. This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.

Education/Knowledge: Graduation from high school or the equivalent preferred.
Experience: Must have knowledge of nutritional needs, food ordering within budget parameters, food preparation, menu planning and awareness of sanitary food preparation and kitchen cleanliness.

Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Staff will be required to work with gas ovens and stove, table top deep fry, industrial dish washer. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
Salary range for this position starts at approximately $12.49 per hour depending on relevant experience and education.
