The Food Service Specialist: CenterPointe is responsible for appetizing and nutritious meal preparation for the guests living in the two facilities Monday-Friday. The cook prepares lunch and dinners and preps meals for later consumption. The cook orders from a menu from a food service company and must stay within budget guidelines. The cook will also keep the kitchen up to health department cleanliness standards. The cook will also maintain good relationships with the food suppliers and with Second Harvest.

This cook will interface with residents in the facility and must demonstrate patience and professionalism at all times.


Education/Knowledge: Graduation from high school or the equivalent preferred

Experience: Must have some knowledge of nutritional needs, food ordering within budget parameters, food preparation, menu planning and awareness of sanitary food preparation and kitchen cleanliness. Some verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation.

Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Staff will be required to work with gas ovens and stove, table top deep fry, industrial dish washer. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.


Starting hourly wage is $12.49/hr

The McNabb Center ( is a premier not-for-profit provider of behavioral health services.  The Center provides quality care and serves all ages in a continuum of prevention, early intervention, social, co-occurring, addiction, outpatient, and crisis services.
