Hospital Embedded Master's Clinician

The Hospital Embedded Master's Clinician:

  • assists with behavioral health needs within the hospital emergency department by completing MCU assessments of clients experiencing a behavioral health crisis via iPad and face to face. 
  • This position also facilitates referral-related activities to link clients with needed services and follows-up on client to ensure treatment is being rendered.

COMPENSATION: Effective 8/1/22 Starting salary for this position is approximately $49,980 /yr based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule: 24/7 programming. Clinicians typically work four 10 hour shifts each week. Must give at least a six hours' notice if not able to work their scheduled shift (unless a documented emergency arises). Clinician will ensure 24/7 coverage is provided despite any weather conditions or holidays that may arise.

Travel: This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. "F" endorsement is required and must be obtained within the first 2 weeks of employment. Must be able to provide transportation as needed.

Equipment/Technology: Computer skills and ability to utilize company program software to properly document. Telephone and faxing skills. Must know how to send and receive e-mails and faxes. Must be able to utilize iPad to complete telehealth assessments as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS - Hospital Embedded Master's Clinician

Education:

  • A Master's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, sociology and experience working with individuals with mental illness and/or co-occurring diagnoses.
  • Licensed or license eligible clinician required.
  • Must obtain MPA certification within 1-2 months hire date.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Must have course work and or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention. 
  • Must have experience in working with special populations including individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illnesses and Co-Occurring Disorders.
  • Computer experience is helpful.
  • Experience working in a crisis setting preferred. 

Physical:

  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors.
  • Hearing of normal and soft tones.
  • Close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. 
  • Effective communication skills, strong time management, and organizational skills are necessary to manage day to day job responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation. 
  • Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
