Join the McNabb Center Team as a School Based Mental Health Liaison for Hamblen County today!

The School Based Mental Health Liaison is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment of students struggling with behavioral health issues. This includes initial assessments, diagnosing, triage/crisis counseling, and individual/family therapy. Acts as liaison between the school and family; assists in the development of trauma-informed support plans and Individualized Education Plans.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $45,080/yr based on relevant experience and education.


  • This position has a regular schedule of Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm. 
  • There is no on-call for this position and employee is off on Center designated holidays. 
  • In person daily attendance is essential for this position except in instances of approved time off.


  • This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. 
  • Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.


  • Position is required to enter clinical information into electronic medical records software. 
  • Position requires frequent use of telephone and intermittent use of telehealth software platform. 
  • Position is supplied with technology and equipment to be able to perform all job functions within the school setting.

QUALIFICATIONS - School Based Mental Health Liaison


  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or other related field of study. 
  • Eligible for certification and licensure by the state of Tennessee if such exists for his/her degree/profession.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Must have course work and or experience in the areas of psychopathology, counseling, theory, trauma-informed practice, cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of alcohol and drug abuse and mental illness. 
  • Two years of experience working with SED children preferred.


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
