ILS Nurse

The ILS Nurse:

  • provides direct care to clients residing in an Intensive Long-Term Support (ILS) program. 
  • is responsible for ensuring that each client's mental health and medical health needs are met via the completion of medical assessments, administration of medications, collection of vital signs, etc. 
  • Must be able to work flexible hours based on the needs of the program. 
  • Must be able to provide transportation as needed. 
  • Mandatory to remain awake and alert during shift to monitor client safety. 

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $20.43 / hr (LPN) and $27.43 (RN) based on relevant experience and education.

Scheduling: ILS is a 24/7 program.  Flexibility is necessary to meet the needs of the program. 12 hour shifts that rotate the weekends for coverage.

Travel: No travel is required.

Equipment/Technology: This position requires basic computer skills for documentation in the electronic medical records, time keeping, and email.  Faxing may also be required.



  • Must be a graduate of an accredited LPN or RN program. 
  • Must have licensure as a practical nurse in the state of Tennessee. 
  • Prior clinical experience preferred.
  • Should have sound knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses, treatment modalities and interventions.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • 1 year experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of medical terminology, charting skills and familiarity with medical settings. 
  • Must be able to coordinate effectively and efficiently with medical providers and pharmacies. 
  • Must have the ability to relate positively with and be emotionally supportive of clients with severe and persistent mental illness.


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal / soft tones and close eye work.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity.
