The PRN Bachelors Clinician Women's Community Liaison assess the needs of Knox County women 18 year and older using the ASI (Addiction Severity Index) and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Placement Criteria. Refers women to the appropriate treatment setting and ensures the client needs are met either through the treatment agency, through other referrals or by arrangements between the WCL and the client. Assist women with wraparound or ancillary services, including but not limited to Tenn. Care/medical care, WIC, food stamps, child care, and mental health. Responsible for record keeping and data collection activities of the WCLP according to the standards and practices of the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, and accrediting requirements.
This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.
Education/Knowledge: A bachelor's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, criminal justice, addiction, women's studies or a behavioral science field with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse OR an associate degree with emphasis on alcohol and drug addiction with two to four years' experience in alcohol and drug/mental health counseling. Licensed as an alcohol/drug counselor in the state of Tennessee (LADAC) preferred but not required. Knowledge of social casework, human behavior and characteristics of women from diverse backgrounds and experiences required.
Experience: Candidate needs a minimum of two years' experience in the alcohol/drug field or relevant experience. Computer skills for preparing ASI's, and reports/records, strong communication skills, ability to act in role of advocate for women. Collaborates well with community partners.
Applicants should possess the ability to relate to individuals and families of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds, ages, educational levels, and economic circumstances with respect and dignity. Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills are necessary in order to work effectively and collaboratively with clients, collaborating agencies, and community professionals, as well as maintaining proper documentation. Must possess reliable transportation, a valid driver's license with an F endorsement OR the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, transport clients, and willingness to travel.
Physical: Exposure to biological hazards. Hearing of normal and soft tones as well as close eye work. Valid driver's license. Lifting up to 50 lbs. Pushing/pulling up to 150 lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. To ensure the safety of the clients and staff, this position requires certification in and adequate implementation of verbal and physical de-escalation techniques (Handle with Care) that include a wide range of bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
