Team as a Registered Nurse for the Children's Crisis Stabilization Unit at
Children's Hospital today!
SUMMARY:
The CCSU Registered
Nurse (RN) provides treatment, rehabilitation, and support for clients in a CSU
setting including clients in varying levels of crisis, frequently working with
SPMI and clients with co-occurring issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with crisis interventions and medical
emergencies, obtaining vital signs each shift or more frequently as
indicated.
- Administers intramuscular injections, communicates with
PCPs during recovery partnership and transition phases, and collaborates
with other agencies as indicated.
- Triages referrals, completing RN intake/assessments on
all clients admitted during their shift, obtaining urine drug screens, BAL
and pregnancy tests on admissions, obtaining admission orders, dispensing
routine and PRN medications, taking orders from prescriber and updating
MAR, completing electronic and paper charting in a timely manner and
participating in treatment team meetings.
- Collaborates with Mobile Crisis and Family Walk in
Center assisting with clients being referred to higher level of care,
completing S-BARs.
- May take calls from recently discharged clients
requesting bridge prescriptions, follow-up calls on weekends, obtain prior
authorizations and coordinate with pharmacies.
- Required to be certified in and adequately implement
verbal and physical de-escalation techniques that include a wide range of
bodily movements including but not limited to grasping, holding another
person, going down on knees, running, and walking.
Scheduling: Schedule may require 12 hours shifts and
rotating weekends. Regular attendance is an essential job function. Mandatory
to remain awake and alert during shift.
QUALIFICATIONS - CCSU
Registered Nurse (RN)
Education:
- RN with current Tennessee license required.
- Experience in psychiatric nursing, BSN or ANA
certification as Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse preferred.
Experience / Knowledge:
- Sound knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses,
treatment modalities and interventions.
- Computer experience is required. Must be familiar with
basic Microsoft Office skills and EMR.
- Experience in working with special populations
including individuals with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness and
Co-Occurring Disorders preferred.
- Experience working in a crisis setting preferred.
Physical:
- Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
- Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping,
and reaching.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (training
provided).
- Required to be certified in and adequately implement
verbal de-escalation techniques (training provided).
- Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement
under pressure.
- Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement
on their driver's license to transport clients as necessary.
