Crisis Services Nursing Team Leader

The Crisis Services Nursing Team Leader assists with hiring, training, and supervising nursing staff for BHUCC, Knox CSU, and Hamblen CSU.

  • oversees scheduling
  • monitors training needs
  • attends treatment tx teams when available
  • functions in a leadership role in the multi-disciplinary treatment team
  • works with Crisis Services Nursing Manager to ensure all shifts are covered at all times which may require working overnight, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • available for selected 24/7 on-call medical questions and/or admission protocol inquiries
  • completes chart reviews and state reports to monitor for contract and agency compliance
  • provides direct care to clients as needed and assists with crisis interventions and medical emergencies
  • coordinates with all team members regarding client discharge planning
  • serves as a liaison with other agencies as indicated.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $30.51 / hr based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule: Work non-structured hours with understanding that schedule is subject to change to meet the needs of Crisis Services Programming. Will provide coverage for other Nursing Staff. Will be on-call for program needs. Daily in-person attendance is essential. Must give six hours' notice if not able to work their scheduled shift (unless a documented emergency arises).

Travel:  Valid driver's license required. Must have or be able to obtain an F-endorsement on driver license within first 2 weeks of employment. This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business including transportation of clients. Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment.

Equipment/Technology: Computer skills and ability to utilize company program software to properly document. Telephone and faxing skills. 



  • Must have a RN degree with a current/valid Tennessee license. 
  • Course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, primary care, etiology, and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug use, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual developmental delays.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience in psychiatric nursing and acute care preferred. 
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of supervisory, administrative, and clinical skills. 
  • Basic computers skills required; experience with electronic medical record (EMR) preferred. 
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination preferred. 
  • 2 years supervisory experience preferred.


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
