The Volunteer & Outreach Specialist

JOB SUMMARY

  • This position supports the community relations department with communications and volunteer management.
  • Primary responsibilities include identifying, tracking and managing volunteers for the benefit of the McNabb Center programs and events.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Maintain structured program for Center-based volunteers.

  • Streamline application and application review process for volunteers desiring to work within the Center's clinical programs and events.
  • Conduct volunteer orientation and training
  • Identify and expand volunteer opportunities Center-wide.

2. Recruit, vet, interview and onboard volunteer applicants as appropriate.

  • Manage volunteers from initial contact through conclusion of volunteer duties.
  • Record and track all Center-related volunteer hours.
  • Manage volunteer database and maintain updated records on all volunteers.
  • 3. Build relationships and develop partnerships with individuals and social, civic and local organizations for volunteer purposes
  • Attend community events to recruit volunteers and bring awareness to the Center's volunteer opportunities.
  • Conduct outreach to expand volunteerism within Center programs.

4. Coordinate the Center's outreach and community tabling events including scheduling, packing supplies, and occasional set up & attendance.

5. Support events (Center & Foundation) as needed.

6. This job requires occasional travel to the Center's outlying counties, including Hamilton County.

  • This position is an in-person, non-exempt, hourly position with occasional nights and weekends. This position is based at 200 Tech Center Drive, Knoxville, TN.


COMPENSATION:

  • Starting salary for this position is approximately $22.21 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

QUALIFICATIONS - Volunteer & Outreach Specialist

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in communications, marketing, human resources, or related field.
  • Communications and/or volunteer management experience preferred, but not required.
  • Applicant must be highly organized, with strong communication skills.

Physical:

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
