The Recovery Court Co-Occurring Counselor facilitates the following in addition to other assigned tasks:

  • Provides effective therapeutic interventions in individual, group, and family formats as directed by the treatment plan to address chemical dependency issues.
  • Meets with clients individually per their request or need.
  • Introduce clients to the 12-Step model and /or other appropriate recovery modalities.
  • Refer clients to medication assisted treatment (MAT) when appropriate.
  • Manages the treatment plan. Uses the plan as a working document to coordinate the delivery of services from a variety of appropriate service providers.
  • Facilitate random drug screens with clients.
  • Maintains regular contact with referral sources and collaborates as needed regarding client care.
  • Works closely in providing liaison services with other agencies involved with clients such as probation officers, assessment agencies working with families and outside therapists. 
  • Collaborates with internal and external resources and services as part of a comprehensive treatment team. 
  • Contributes in a positive way to workings of program concept of effective teamwork needed for effective treatment.
  • Coordinates care with MAT providers to provide continuity of services.
  • Monitor client participation in group and individual sessions.
  • Keep up-to-date attendance roster for groups and individual sessions.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $16.70 /yr or hr based on relevant experience and education.

Scheduling: Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the clients / program.

Travel: Travel is required.

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer skills are required for time keeping, email, and documentation in the electronic medical record. 

QUALIFICATIONS - Recovery Court Co-Occurring Counselor

Education: 

  • Must have at least a Bachelor's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work or sociology from an accredited college of university or LADAC license with three to five years' experience.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience working with adults 1:1 and in a group setting, as well as, previous experience in the alcohol and drug field is mandatory. 
  • Applicants may have other counseling skills and /or treatment/recovery environment experience that could accommodate this position.

Physical:

  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
