The Personnel Specialist supports the Human Resource department's overall goals of staff recruitment, hiring, retention and training by processing new hires, transfers, promotions and terminations. This staff will fulfill all state, local and federal laws as well as all auditing, funding and licensure bodies' requirement for complete and accurate personnel documentation.

Duties include:

  • Complete multiple computer background checks on various sites
  • Enter information into multiple computer databases
  • Submit new hire reports to the State of TN
  • Scheduling drug screens, physicals, fingerprints and TB appointments
  • Organize and scan employment documents, and assist applicants via phone, email, and face-to-face support.
  • Internal customer support and coordination is an essential function of the job that requires responsiveness, teamwork, and quick turn-around time.

COMPENSATION: Starting pay rate for this position is approximately $15.61 / hour based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule: 

  • This position requires a M-F; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm schedule

Travel:  

  • No travel required; based in an office setting.

Equipment/Technology

  • Must have substantial clerical and computer skills and the ability to learn new software products quickly.  Uses multiple online / computer databases and website resources with minimal supervision. Able to maintain access to multiple online resources with efficiency. Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Outlook, Excel and Adobe.

QUALIFICATIONS - Personnel Specialist

Education: 

  • HS or equivalent required.  Associates degree and 3 years experience preferred. Relevant, compatible experience in personnel, business, administrative assistant or program assisting may be exchanged for degree.

Experience / Knowledge:  

  • Experience in multiple computer software programs required, experience with repetitive data entry required, and experience with mental health organizations is preferred.

Physical/Emotional/Social - Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to organize multiple responsibilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Required to do close up work such as computer work, typing and document evaluation.
  • Required to sit for long periods of time.
  • Frequent transitions between sitting, standing and walking to scan, copy and deliver documents.
  • Hearing and talking required to liaison with public and stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent people and communication skills including responsiveness to email and phone messages.
  • Must be able to problem-solve and multi-task. 
  • Strong internal and external customer service skills are required including being able to work as an effective team member.
