The PRN Residential Counselor serves as a clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing education, rehabilitation, and support for client population.  Introduce and teach key recovery concepts through Illness Management and Recovery Groups to include Team Solutions and WRAP. 

Scheduling: 

  • This position is "as needed" and may require non-traditional hours. 
  • Must have flexible schedule. Evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Must stay awake and alert on all shifts.

Travel

  • This position requires utilizing a personal dependable vehicle to conduct Center business. 
  • Maintaining a dependable vehicle and certified driver status is a condition of employment. 
  • Valid driver's license with F endorsement required. 
  • Picking up clients from community locations and hospitals in personal vehicle or company vehicle.

Equipment/Technology

  • Basic computer skills are required for email, scheduling, time keeping, and documentation in electronic medical records. 

QUALIFICATIONS - PRN Residential Counselor

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree in a health related field of counseling, psychology, social work, or a HS Diploma with three years' experience working with individuals with mental illness, special populations with co-occurring and dual diagnoses preferred.
  • Must have coursework and/or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention.

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Experience in working with special populations including individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, Co-occurring Disorders, and Dual Diagnosis is preferred. 
  • Experience working in a crisis setting is preferred

 Physical:

  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal to soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required.
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff members must possess reliable transportation, the ability to acquire an F endorsement on driver's license, and transport clients.
