Join the McNabb Center Team as a PRN Residential Counselor for the Katie Miller program today!

The PRN Residential Counselor will be responsible for the supervision of clients, administration of the program rules and level system, and facilitation of a therapeutic, positive and safe milieu.  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • providing supportive listening to clients individually and in group settings
  • weekend work
  • daily paperwork
  • assisting with milieu activities
  • overall supervision of clients in the facility
  • reports to the Team Leader for milieu counselor duties
  • responsible for creating an environment conducive to client personal growth and learning skills for substance use reduction 


  • Position is "as needed".  
  • Flexibility is required.  
  • Evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays may be required.


  • F endorsement is required for the transportation of clients.


  • Basic computer skills are required for email, timekeeping, and documentation in the electronic medical record.

QUALIFICATIONS - PRN Residential Counselor


  • Possess a minimum of a High school diploma or equivalency for a Residential Counselor

Experience / Knowledge

  • Working with children/youth/families. 
  • One year of residential experience preferred or exposure via internship.  
  • Understanding of the expectations of DCS/DOE.


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
