Crisis Services Nursing Manager

The Crisis Services Nursing Manager:

  • Hires, trains, and directly supervises RNs working in Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) and LPNs/RNs working in Behavioral Health Urgent Care Center (BHUCC). 
  • Oversees scheduling, monitors training needs, completes performance evaluations, attends daily treatment teams and functions in a leadership role in the multi-disciplinary CSU and BHUCC treatment team. 
  • Orders supplies for the units, available for 24/7 on-call medical questions and/or admission protocol inquiries. 
  • Completes chart review and state reports to monitor for contract and agency compliance. 
  • Provides direct care to clients as needed and assists with crisis interventions and medical emergencies. 
  • Coordinates with all team members regarding client discharge planning, and serves as liaison with other agencies as indicated. 
  • Maintains contact with all external providers, coordinates medical care between providers (including external medical providers, specialists, pharmacy) and delegates. 
  • Responsible for triaging medical phone calls, may require face to face triage as necessary to divert from ER, and is responsible for completing 24 hour and 10 day follow up with clients who have discharged from CSU. 
  • Ensures each shift has nursing coverage. 
  • Ensures PRN nursing positions are filled and maintains a professional and positive relationship with temp nursing agencies. 

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $31.12 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule: 

  • Must have flexible schedule. 
  • Possible overnight shifts, holiday work. 
  • Regular attendance is an essential job function. 
  • Must be punctual and maintain good attendance record. 
  • Must stay awake and alert on all shifts. 
  • On Call for supervisory / staffing issues is an expectation.

Travel:  

  • Travel to other McNabb work sites as necessary.

Equipment/Technology

  • This position does require basic computer skills for timekeeping and use of electronic medical records entry.

QUALIFICATIONS - Crisis Services Nursing Manager

Education: 

  • Associate/Bachelor of Nursing degree with course work or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, primary care, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and intellectual developmental delays. 
  • Must have Registered Nurse license valid in Tennessee.

Experience / Knowledge

  • Experience in psychiatric nursing and acute care preferred. 
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) preferred. 
  • Experience with interdisciplinary collaboration and care coordination preferred. 
  • Must demonstrate a working knowledge of supervisory, administrative, and clinical skills. 2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Physical:

  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
