Program Specialist

The  Program Specialist will provide child care services for children ages birth to 5 years old while their parents are in services.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Ensures children are safe at all times, including monitoring physical hazards, environmental safety in facility and on grounds, practicing safe sleep for children, monitoring safety during meals.
  • Ensure children are properly supervised at all times, including ensuring children are always within eye sight and picked up by appropriate caregivers. 
  • Provide developmentally appropriate activities that foster children's health and development.
  • Communicate effectively with caregivers of children regarding children's needs.
  • Use appropriate tone of voice, nurturing interactions, and disciplinary strategies to address children's behaviors.
  • Ensure children's basic needs are met at all times, including hygiene, feeding, and toileting needs.
  • Maintain an environment in the classroom, facility, and grounds that is safe and well cared for.

COMPENSATION: Starting salary for this position is approximately $16.18 / hr based on relevant experience and education.

Scheduling:  Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the program.

Travel: Valid Driver License with F endorsement is required.

Equipment/Technology: Basic computer skills are required for email, time keeping, and basic documentation.

QUALIFICATIONS - Program Specialist


  • Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education, social services, or a related human service field; Training in child development preferred.

Experience / Knowledge

  • One year experience working in the early childcare setting preferred.


  • Minimal exposure to biological hazards.
  • Hearing of normal/soft tones and close eye work.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.
  • CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
  • Required to be certified in and adequately implement verbal de-escalation techniques.
  • Applicants should be able to exercise sound judgement under pressure.
  • Clinical staff may be required to get an F endorsement to transport clients as necessary.
